16 Lakes – Fotosafari.hr 2011
CONTEST RULES
1. Photo Contest “16 Lakes – Fotosafari.hr 2011″ (the Contest) is organized by Plitvice Lakes Photo Club in collaboration with Fotosafari Inc. Zagreb. Partners and Sponsors are Fotosafari Inc. Zagreb and Plitvice Lakes Tourist Board. Contest is opened for all amateur or professional photographers of the world. Photographers coming from countries where such contests are forbidden can’t participate.
2. THEME: Main Theme is NATURE.
- Category (A1) are WILD ANIMALS.
- Category (A2) are LANDSCAPES.
Definitions (FIAP):
Main Theme – NATURE: Nature photography depicts living, untamed animals and uncultivated plants in a natural habitat, geology and the wide diversity of natural phenomena, from insects to icebergs. Photographs of animals which are domesticated, caged or under any form of restraint, as well as photographs of cultivated plants are ineligible. Minimal evidence of humans Is acceptable for nature subjects, such as barn owls or storks, adapting to an environment modified by humans, or natural forces, like hurricanes or tidal waves, reclaiming it. The original image must have been taken by the photographer, whatever photographic medium is used. Any manipulation or modification to the original image is limited to minor retouching of blemishes and must not alter the content of the original scene. After satisfying the above requirements, every effort should be made to use the highest level of artistic skill in all nature photographs.
A1– Wild Animals: Wild animal photography depicts living, untamed animals in a natural habitat as the main subject of the image.
A2– Landscapes: Landscape photography must depict a wide landscape scene showing fields and hills, forests, water etc. Human elements are not acceptable except in a way described in FIAP definition of the Nature theme.
3. Size and number of entries: Photography must be JPG file, 8 bit – sRGB, wider side not smaller then 3000 px, at 300dpi. Compression levels should not be below 8, file size not larger than 10MB. One author may enter up to 8 images, 4 per subcategory.
4. File Name: File name can be the same as photography name. Our system will rename them properly. It is important that neither the photography name nor file name can contain the author’s name and neither can be longer then 20 characters.
5. Fees: Participation fee (both categories together) for photographers from Croatia is 100,00kn, participation fee for one category is 70,00 kn. Photographers from abroad must pay for both categories together 15,00EUR or 20USD or 12GBP, participation fee for one category is 10,00 EUR or 12,00 USD or 8,00 GBP. Details about payment options will be published on Plitvice Lakes Photo Club website. Photographs without a paid entry fee will be disqualified.
6. How to Enter: Addresses, instructions and web links will be published on Plitvice Lakes Photo Club website at www.fotoklub-plitvicka-jezera.com
7. Jury: Jury decisions are final and cannot be altered.
Submitted photographs will be judged by seven member Jury:

- Čedomil Gross — AFIAP, Croatia
- Mario Glavić — AFIAP, Croatia
- Rade Jug — AFIAP, Croatia
- Zlata Medak—HFS, Croatia
- Dalija Prašnikar—CEO Fotosafari inc., Croatia
8. Awards and Prizes: All taxes and fees, foreign or domestic, including income, sales, and import
taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility of the prize winners.
- Grand Prix Fotosafari.hr – US$5000
- Two Gold Medals — one for each Category
- Two Silver Medals — one for each Category
- Two Bronze Medals — one for each Category
- Twelve diplomas — six for each Category
- Eighteen Ribbons of Honor — nine for each Category
9. Jurry members, organizers, sponsors, nor members of their families can’t enter the competition nor be awarded any prizes. Jurry members, organizers, sponsors can display their work out of competition.
10. Exhibition: Organizer will present all the awarded and selected works professionally printed on 70x50cm high quality photo paper and mated and framed to 100x70cm frames. Exhibition will be held in a distinguished gallery space.
11. Catalogue: Each exhibitor will receive a printed catalogue containing all accepted works. Along the printed catalogue, electronic form catalogue will also be published and available for download from Plitvice Lakes Photo Club website.
12. By submitting photographs each contestant guarantees that submitted works are his/hers own work and he/she is legal owner of all the rights on the submitted photographs.
13. Photographer retains all rights and Copyright to submitted photographs.
14. By submitting photographs each contestant agrees that in case the work is selected for the display, it can also be printed in exhibition catalogue, presented to the media, exhibited or used for the Photo Contest “16 LAKES – FOTOSAFARI.HR 2011″ or it’s successors promotion, without any compensation.
15. Only entries in digital form will be accepted. Photographs that were exhibited on earlier 16 Lakes salons will not be juried.
16. Entries not matching the competition rules will not be presented to the Jurry.
17. By submitting photographs each contestant accepts the Contest Rules.
18. By submitting photographs each contestant agree to release, discharge, and hold harmless Contest organizers, partners, sponsors and their officers, directors and representatives from any claims, losses, and damages arising out of their participation in this Contest or any Contestrelated activities.
19. If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned Contest organizers and sponsors reserve the right to modify or cancel the Contest. If the Contest is cancelled, all paid entry fees will be returned.
20. Entrants agree that this Contest shall be subject to and governed by the laws of Republic of Croatia and the forum for any dispute shall be in Zagreb, Croatia.
