Sony World Photography Awards 2011: Open winners announced
See the winners of the amateur Open category of the Sony World Photography Awards 2011 competition. Over 51,000 photos were entered, but only 10 could win…
Over 51,000 submissions were made to the Open category of the Sony World Photography Awards from a total of 148 countries.
The category, which is open to all amateur photographers, is judged on a single image. The winnners are chosen by a judging panel including Francis Hodgson, British photography critic and Chair of the Honorary Judging Committee and Paul Genge, Technical Marketing for Sony UK.
The shortlists for the open category were selected by iStockphoto, the world’s leading royalty-free stock image website.

Nature and Wildlife: Andiyan Lutfi (Indonesia)
Panoramic: Wolfgang Weinhardt (Germany)
People: Raghuranjan Sarkar (India)
Smile: Carlos Henrique Reinesch (Brazil)
Tavel: James Chong (Singapore).
